JUDE ROTH
After my parents divorced when I was 7, I was nearly catatonic with grief. My dad gave me his reeeeeeallly old TV I was allowed to keep in my bedroom and watch as a reward for chores and homework, and I know without a doubt that the stories I watched soothed and saved my life.
By the time I was 9, the stories had brought me out of the fog and lit a spark to tell my own stories. I thought...by writing, maybe I could make sense of my small world while possibly helping others.
I kicked off what's become the grand storytelling adventure with my version of "Ocean's 11," stealing piles of notebooks from my elementary school supply closet.Though I made amends for those high crimes, I never really questioned it being the right thing to do as a 3rd-grader growing up on the equivalent of food stamps determined to say something.

WRITING AWARDS & IN THE PRESS
I've won “Best Screenplay” at La Femme Int'l Film Festival and have had TV pilots featured on The Black List and WeForShe WriteHer List, the latter annually featuring 20 unproduced pilots selected from hundreds of nominations from industry executives and creatives. I'm also one of only 6 writers chosen for the 2019 Black List-Women in Film Episodic Lab, I've been a finalist for the HUMANITAS New Voices in TV award, and I'm a two-time semifinalist for the Sundance Episodic Lab. PBS and Latino Public Broadcasting acquired my award-winning scripted drama film"El Doctor" (in 2014 and again in 2023).
Scripts also placed in contests including: Austin Film Festival (semifinalist), Writers Lab (semifinalist), PAGE (top 10 ), Writers Network/Fade In (8 quarterfinalist projects in one year), Slamdance (top 25), and Cinestory (semifinalist).

Related, super-rewarding experiences include having worked in TV development at Skydance Media, and I serve as a steering committee member for the Think Tank for Inclusion and Equity in TV.
